Serving the creative communities of film, TV & tech, the Venice Media District (VMD) is recognized by the Los Angeles City Council as one of the world’s most creative hubs for film, television, and technology. For over a century, creative icons, artists, and visionaries have thrived at LA’s artistic outpost by the sea. The Venice Media District focuses on bringing media professionals of all backgrounds together to share ideas, network with others in related fields, and collaborate on projects. Our goal is to brand Silicon Beach on a community level, in the heart of creativity – Venice Beach, California.

Venice Media District Designation

The Venice Media District was originally created in 2006 by a motion of The City of Los Angeles, and a committee of the Venice Chamber of Commerce. A focus on furthering and advancing the technological, media, and online aspects of business in the Venice area. Here you will find the most cutting edge advancements and progress when it comes to networking and building professional connections.

MEET OUR COMMITTEE

SANDIE WEST

VMD CO-CHAIR; PRODUCER/DIRECTOR

Sandie is a Film Director/Producer at Beach Dancer Films and a member of the prestigious Film Academy BAFTA as well as SAG-AFTRA union. Ms. West is the co-producer of The Marina Del Rey Film Festival & has a major role in The Silicon Beach & the Playa Vista Film Festival as well as publicity for The Culver City Film Festival. She is also Founder and CEO at Creative Chakra Spa Aromatherapy. Sandie also serves as a Board Member of the Venice Chamber of Commerce.

STEVE VULIN – ENTERPRENEUR

Steven Vulin is an Actor/Entrepreneur who has appeared in movies, television shows and national commercial campaigns gaining a well-rounded knowledge of all phases of production. Steven is drawn to Venice by the allure of its history and the creative energies and wants to give back and enhance the film, tech and media community

HEITH ROGERS

GOOGLE VENICE

Heith is the Facilities Manager at Google Venice HQ and also serves on the Venice Chamber Board of Directors. Google Venice is one of Google’s leading campuses where products such as Ads, Chrome and YouTube are developed. Heith has extensive experience in his field serving as Facilities Manager at Sony Pictures.

SUNNY BAK

PHOTOGRAPHER, VENICE ART CRAWL

Sunny has a passion for nurturing new artists and promoting her community, and has photographed everyone from the Beastie Boys, Madonna to the cover of Newsweek. She is the President of the Venice Art Crawl, a Venice Chamber of Commerce hosted event whose mission is to foster and reinvigorate the creativity that has historically and currently makes Venice such a vibrant and dynamic community. Sunny serves on the Venice Chamber Board of Directors and also serves on the Venice Neighborhood Council.
